The Art of Looking Up — 2026 Calendar

Twelve months of celebrating what's above us.
See Inside

Visiting historic sites can be a deeply sensory experience. They come with their own sounds — footsteps on stone, the creak of timber, voices echoing in vaulted ceilings. They have distinct smells, of rush matting, or a certain dustiness, or the ghost of incense.

But what moves me most about these spaces is knowing that I am standing where centuries of other lives have also stood. That I can reach out and put my hand on the same cool stone carved by an unknown maker, that I can look up and see the same light they saw streaming in.

The Art of Looking Up is, in a way, my attempt to hold onto that feeling. It’s part practice — an invitation to pause and notice the extraordinary beauty around and above us in these spaces — and part record, a collection of quiet moments that remind us that the lives of the past still have something to say, if only we’ll take a look.
